Profitable Pinterest Tips That Send Traffic to Your Website
Everyone likes a few popularity points. And most everyone likes Pinterest. This search engine driven platform is incredible for not only everyday users but businesses and blogs! Pinterest introduced a smart feed in the Fall of 2014 and everyone went a tad crazy. And although many have now adjusted, there may be some cool tricks that you haven't thought about before that could gain you some popularity points with Pinterest.
Basically, the popular kids of Pinterest get seen more. If Pinterest deems you as a high-quality, consistent user then you are the golden child and get your way. So our goal is to be popular and rack up favor + brownie points. Conquering the smart feed and being popular doesn't have to be hard.

1 | TELL PINTEREST YOU ARE POPULAR
Pinterest doesn't believe you? They're crazy. But if you are only getting 1 repin on some of your pins which is harming your popularity case then there is a little trick I like to do, which helped me out a lot! At first, even with 500-600 followers my repin rate was fairly low because my followers were mainly people interested in fashion, not blogging and business tips! It has taken months for my Pinterest account to catch up and tons of consistent activity on my part. But when I heard of this trick I just had a good feeling that it would solve my dilemma. Repin your own pins. It's like your fan girling over your own content. I'll use myself for an example, this pin will immediately be pinned to the board that contains all my blog content! Once I have my post pinned to this board I will then repin that pin to my blog tips, business tips, and social media tips board. That's THREE repins right off the bat. You got the popularity ball rollin' and it took a few seconds.2 | DELETE LOW PERFORMING PINS
If some of your pins aren't doing too hot after 5-7 days then go ahead and delete them. It may sound insane but when I start doing this.. I'm seeing my usual number of repins which is 1-5 is now at least over 5 and some of my pins are over 50! It's hard to believe my eyes sometimes that my pins are taking off the way they do. I never thought I would get to be one of the Pinterest users that had that happen!3 | DELETE LOW PERFORMING BOARDS
Yeah, if the entire board isn't doing well then maybe it is time to let it go. Same concept that surrounds the low performing pin idea but with boards instead. Your board may not be performing well because it is not within your target audiences interest.. Which means you should just keep it as a secret board instead! Instead of deleting (if that is too permanent for you) then just switch the settings to secret that way it won't harm your popularity on Pinterest.4 | CONSISTENCY IS IMPORTANT
This is pretty important. One of the most important factors in my opinion. Pinning a consistent amount of pins each day is crucial when it comes to being a popular Pinterest user. If you are as insanely busy as I am every day (12 to 13 hour work days, anyone?) then you don't have time to sit on Pinterest and make sure you are pinning a specific number of pins every day. And that is why you need a pin scheduler or looper in your life. It is a living miracle, friend.5 | REPIN QUALITY, DON'T FOCUS ON QUANTITY
Quality trumps quantity. If you have a crazy number of pins that have broken links or don't look attractive then your account is harmed in the process. Repin pins that coincide with your brand. You would never want to post something on your blog that is below 200 words and has an awful picture attached to it. That would look horrible and people would think poorly of your site afterward! So why do that to your Pinterest account? Be strategic about what you repin. Don't just repin whatever.6 | SAVE PIN IMAGE FILE NAMES STRATEGICALLY
Is there a key word that may go perfect with your pin? Use that key word or phrase as the file name of that image. I do this before I upload it to my blog for SEO purposes anyways so I'm knocking out two birds with one stone using this tactic. Efficiency is always awesome. So make sure you are being a little creative with your file names instead of saving each image as "IMG01.jpg." For example, for this post I saved the image as "pinterest-smart-feed.jpg" because the key purpose of this post is mastering the smart feed Pinterest created in 2014.7 | USE KEY WORDS IN THE PIN DESCRIPTION
The pin description takes a bit more time and that's a task that I fall short of since I'm working full-time at an agency. Every little second counts. But this is definitely a task that if you don't mind doing every time you upload a pin from your site it will be worth it! Include key words within this pin description and make sure it is rich with phrases that compel the readers to save the pin! Use this description option to your advantage.8 | DO YOU HAVE A BUSINESS ACCOUNT?
If not, you totally should. If so, then three claps for you! Having a Pinterest business account opens up access to a variety of cool features that you would miss out on if you were running a regular ole Pinterest account. So make sure to read my post all about how to switch from a personal to a business Pinterest account. I give a step by step tutorial!9 | RICH PINS ARE COOL. BE COOL.

Whose your target audience? What are they interested in? What's a topic that you dive into all the time on your blog? Is it fashion, lifestyle, DIY, kiddos, etc? If so, gear your Pinterest boards and content toward that one area! By organizing your Pinterest boards according to a niche this will help out greatly and Pinterest will then put you in front of the right people.
